The Final Experiment: The Midnight Sun, Live

In the flat model the Sun is a small disc that always rises and sets - in Antarctica it should do the same, so a 24-hour Sun there is impossible. The expedition's ground rules (agreed by both sides before departure): if the Sun is observed above the horizon for 24 continuous hours at Union Glacier, the flat model is refuted.

Will Duffy (a Colorado pastor) spent three years arranging the trip: 4 flat Earthers and 4 globe Earthers flew from Punta Arenas, Chile to Union Glacier Camp (~79° S, a privately operated camp), ~$35,000 per person. They livestreamed from the camp for three days (Dec 14-16) via Starlink, and ran extra checks: a 360-degree timelapse of the Sun circling the sky, flight timelapses, a paper + digital boarding pass (with EXIF GPS data), on-site weight measurements, and a 'no green screens' verification video. MCToon participated and published his $40,000 crowdfunding expenses and receipts.

The 24-hour Sun was observed and livestreamed: near the December solstice the Sun circled the sky at Union Glacier without setting - at ~79° S it stays between ~12° and ~34° above the horizon all day. The participating flat Earthers admitted it on camera: Jeran Campanella said his model was 'no longer valid' and later stepped away from the community; Witsit admitted being wrong about the 24-hour Sun but said he was still open to the Earth being flat.

The wider flat-earth community largely rejected the result: the footage was claimed to be a 'dome studio' or green screen, one pastor suggested 'Satan created a fireball to act as a false Sun', and some accused Duffy of using church funds (which he denied). Duffy: 'The flat Earth community is imploding. They cannot decide what to believe.'

This is prediction → test → result in action. The flat model made a specific, checkable prediction (no 24-hour Sun in Antarctica); the test was run with multiple independent cameras and witnesses from both sides; the result matched the globe model. When a model survives contact with reality by adding a new conspiracy (dome, fireball, stolen funds), it is no longer doing science - it is unfalsifiable by design.
